Sound baths are rooted in the understanding that everything on Earth and beyond vibrates. Some vibrations are perceptible to us, but most are not. Every vibration has its own frequency, and we each have our own personal frequencies. When we are “out of tune,” that imbalance can show up in many ways, particularly as stress, anxiety and a sense of disconnection.
Sound baths are designed to bathe the listener in a soundscape of healing frequencies. You are immersed in a safe, supportive space where specialized musical instruments are played live, bathing the body, mind and spirit in frequencies intended to help recalibrate your own personal vibrations and promote profound relaxation, clarity and a greater sense of balance.
At The Stillness Sound Bath Studio, you enter a cozy, candlelit room designed to feel still, safe and contained. As you settle into one of our comfortable, warm mattresses, you are led on a journey of sound and vibration composed to mirror the movement of a wave: the first tones light and airy, slowly building and deepening before carrying you into the deep-space, profound majesty of the giant gongs.
Never too loud, and played skillfully and intuitively, the sonic soundscape moves through you like gentle medicine.
We are located at 1234 Kingston Road, right at Fallingbrook Road in the Upper Beaches area of Toronto. There is plenty of free parking all around the studio and TTC is a few steps away.
A sound bath is a form of meditation and relaxation. At our studio, you are invited to recline on a cozy mattress and wrap yourself in a warm blanket. The session starts with some gentle guided meditation to help you begin to relax and then the sound bath begins. You are then cocooned and cradled in a soothing soundscape created by instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, and chimes.
A sound bath is like a nervous system tune up; the healing frequencies help settle your nervous system. The tones and vibrations move through muscle, bone and breath and help guide your body and mind into a state of deep rest, where stress and tension release and the mind grows quieter. Many people leave feeling calmer, clearer, and more balanced.
Wear comfy clothing that you can easily lie down in and just bring yourself. We supply the cozy beds, blankets and pillows. If you're feeling shy about coming alone, please know that we are super warm and welcoming and will make sure you are able to settle in and feel comfortable. Sound baths are about quiet, stillness and introspection.
Weekly group sessions are 1 hour long, monthly are 1.5 hours. Our private sessions are 1-2 hours.
Yes, sound baths are generally safe for everyone! But, if you have implants in your body or aching joints, you may feel the vibrations from the instruments more than usual in those spots. Most people report a sense of release and relief from aches and pains after a sound bath.
